Frequently Asked Questions

Products

Q: I'm new to instant coffee, what is it?
A:
Instant coffee is prepared in the same way as roast and ground coffee, but with an added step at the end of the process. NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE is made by first selecting premium blends of coffee beans and roasting them to perfection, the coffee beans are ground and brewed. The resulting brew is a high quality coffee which then gets freeze dried to preserve and fresh lock the rich roast flavor and aroma of NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE. The benefit is you get to simply add back hot water to brew the coffee fresh in your cup. No machines, no hassle. It's as simple as that.

Q: Is NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE the same or different than the TASTER'S CHOICE coffee that was in the glass jar?
A:
We recently changed our packaging to give TASTER'S CHOICE a more contemporary look. Our new container is light weight and easier to handle. Although our look has changed, inside you will find the same great tasting coffee.
In 2003 we added the NESCAFÉ name to TASTER'S CHOICE, reflecting a partnership of two great coffee brands. Both NESCAFÉ and TASTER'S CHOICE are known the world over for exceptional quality and both have been made by Nestlé for the last 36 years.

Q: How do you prepare a cup of NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE?
A:
It's really simple to enjoy our coffee. First, empty one heaping teaspoon of NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE into your coffee cup, then pour hot water over the coffee. The ideal water temperature is slightly less than boiling. Stir & enjoy. You can also add NESTLÉ COFFEE-MATE creamer and sugar as desired.

Q: Is NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE freeze dried?
A:
Yes. NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE coffee is freeze-dried, which means that more rich roast flavor and aroma is preserved.

Q: How long can I keep NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE?
A:
Coffee is not a perishable product. However, for optimum quality, NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE should be used before the "Best Before" date which is printed on the bottom of the container. Once opened it has a recommended shelf life of approximately 3 months.

Q: How do I store NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE?
A:
For optimum quality, it should be stored in a cool, dry place.

Q: Can I freeze NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE?
A:
It can be stored in the freezer, but it is not necessary. For optimum quality, it should be stored in a cool, dry place.

Q: How many cups of coffee are in a 7 oz jar of NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE?
A:
There are up to 105 cups of coffee in a 7 oz jar, depending on how you choose to make your coffee.

Q: Where on the jar can I find the Best Before date?
A:
Just like all other food products, coffee is best when fresh. To guarantee that your coffee is as fresh and flavorful as it can be, NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE should be used before the "Best Before" date printed (in black) on the bottom of the container.

Q: Is NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE canister packaging recyclable?
A:
NESCAFÉ TASTER'S CHOICE is available in a plastic jar that provides superior product protection compared to other plastic jar options and is lighter weight/uses less packaging material than the previous package it replaces. It is presently accepted for recycling in a limited number of recycling programs in the U.S.

Q: Is the single-serve packet material recyclable?
A:
We are looking into alternative materials that are recyclable, but due to their complexity we do not have a date for launch at this time.

Q: Where can I buy NESCAFÉ TASTER’S CHOICE Vanilla, Hazelnut and 100% Colombian canisters?
A:
Our Vanilla, Hazelnut and 100% Colombian canisters are being replaced with 20 count cartons of single-serve packets.  These packets are also available for NESCAFÉ TASTER’S CHOICE Original Roast (7 count and 22 count) and NESCAFÉ TASTER’S CHOICE Decaffeinated (6 count and 20 count).

Q: Why are Vanilla, Hazelnut and 100% Colombian canisters being replaced with single-serve packets?
A:
We changed to a new format for several reasons.  We received great feedback from consumers and retailers after we introduced Original and Decaf single-serve packets and received many requests for portable options of our flavor varieties.  These products provide a great way to offer those benefits to the diverse needs of our consumers.

Q: Are the Vanilla, Hazelnut and 100% Colombian canisters still available and where can I find them?
A:
By the end of 2009 all retailers who carry NESCAFÉ TASTER’S CHOICE flavors will carry stick packs. The rollout is being carried out in phases. Wal-mart and many retailers on the West coast will be the first ones to convert. Unfortunately, conversion varies by retailer and even by store. By early to mid-fall it's likely you will not be able to find canisters at most retailers. However, you may be able to order supplies, while they last, through our partner company, My Brands.

Q: Has the product changed at all with the single-serve packaging?
A:
No, it is absolutely the same product. There was no formulation change. The product contained within the packet is the same NESCAFE TASTER'S CHOICE that was found in the canister. The single-serve packets are optimized for 6oz. of hot water. If you consume more than that amount in your cup you may need an extra stick.

Q: How much water should I use with the single-serve packets?
A:
The packets are optimized for 6 ounces of hot water.  If you want more than 6 ounces, you may need to use an extra stick.

Q: Why are the servings more expensive than in the canisters?
A:
Prices will vary significantly by retailer, there has been some added cost due to the package change. The net affect has been generally 2-3 cents on a per serving basis.
